2009 Covey Run Gewurtztraminer
I had this wine with some spicy Chinese and for a $6 wine, this performed very well. Definitely a rebuy.
Chinatown Restaurant Elmridge Plaza Rochester ny.
I'm going to start off saying that maybe this is unfair based on it was new years eve, possibly one of the busiest days for a Chinese restaurant. So, to start off I ordered online, which was the first time for this particular restaurant. I immediately got a confirmation, and then two minutes later another confirmation, same as the first. After not hearing back after 45 minutes, I called to confirm my order had been received. It had, but they said it was going to be at least another 30-40 minutes. Well after another 45 minutes I decided to just go, figuring it had to be close. I stopped for gas on the way. The order was there, but as it turned out, I never did get a call or e-mail saying it was ready for pick-up. The food was somewhat of a disappointment. We had ordered a pu-pu platter for two, some soup and lo mien and a specialty dish, 8 hot and spicy ingredients, which I had requested to make extra spicy. The items in the pu-pu platter were mostly a disappointment. Shrimp fried toast was soaked with grease, the chicken wing was not crispy like usual, and a breaded shrimp was way over cooked. My 8 spicy ingredients was predominately celery, generally overcooked and a bit dry, and not all that spicy. The lo-mein was ok, as was the soup. So, in closing, I guess I would not order online again ( it was over two hours after the initial confirmation) and will most likely try some other places before going back there again. I have been to this place several times before, and for take out on new years eve also.
