Customer service, where did it go? (hushards rv)

About three weeks ago now I called Hushard's RV  in Hilton NY, and ordered a frame rail kit for my fifth wheel hitch for my new truck. They said it would usually come in, in a few days. Well after a week I called and they said, we haven't heard anything yet, but we will call you when we do. The next week, I called again and they said, still nothing, but we get a shipment in tomorrow. Still nothing. they call me today and say, our supplier says it won't be in until august 6th at the earliest. Do you want to cancel this order, and call around and see if someone else has it? EXCUSE ME, but shouldn't YOU be calling around and see if you can find one? I am a regular customer of this dealership, and quite frankly am majorly disappointed. (hence this rant)

Is Rose' a 4 letter word?

I have not tried many rose's. I cannot get my family to try a rose'. I think it just plain confuses people. Is it white, or red? Is it sweet or dry? Do I drink it warm or cold? I prefer a dry red wine, but a semi-dry white wine. I try to keep a bottle in the rack just in case someone comes over and requests one, but in all honesty, it's never happened. (not that I get a lot of people over..:) ) So, tonight, I pulled the Rose' out of the rack and decided to give it a go. I was looking for just a something a bit different on the taste profile. Not a pinot noir, and also not a Riesling. The first glass is warm, then the bottle went in the fridge. This is a 2012 Goats do roam from South Africa. It's an 8 dollar bottle of wine. Even though it is at room temperature, it has the refreshing bite I was looking for. Definitely a white wine on the nose. And, this a  blend as well. 4 different wines as I recall. Second glass is chilled..... Not much difference I guess. I'm still not sure about it, but I think I will buy another one and throw it back in the rack....

2000 chateau lagrazette malbec (france)

Well, I was saving this bottle for a special occasion, and decided that my son getting his doctorate degree fit the bill. This was a good bottle of wine, but not what I would consider great. I paid about $65 for this a few years back. Now, I should also say I was not at home when we drank this, so I could not decant or remove the sediment in the bottle. The flavors were good, and did change a bit as we were drinking them. There was a bit of sediment in the bottom, and they may have lent itself to some bitterness at the end, which I don't think were tannins. Like I said, a good bottle of wine, not great.

Dr. Konstantin Frank fleur de Pinot Noir (NV)

I'm pretty much convinced that NYS (upstate) has a pretty tough time making a consistent good red wine. There are from time to time though some that are in fact pretty good. This one falls into that category. For a nys wine, it actually has a decent nose. mid-palette, and a rarity for a nys wine an actual finish. Even though it is a $15 wine, I may rebuy this one.

2010 Torraiolo Toscana

Had this wine with some rolled mozzarella with prosciutto. Outstanding for the price (8.99), and maybe outstanding at twice the price! A pop of flavor at the outset, nice mid-palette and a good finish also! I only bought two of these, but I'm pretty sure I'm going in for a case.

Buffalo Wild Wings Henrietta NY.

First time visit, had a gift card, figured I would get a beer, order some wings to go. Killians Irish red on tap, along with about 15 others..good start. Beer was good, order did not take too long. got home, only 10 doggone wings in the box.!! This was not close to home, and I wasn't going back. So, I will say the wings were good. Nice and meaty, and I ordered them hot and the heat was good. Most times you order hot wings, and they aren't. Would I go back.......not sure, but sure would have liked to have 5 more.

2009 le bordeaux merlot

Terrible, terrible wine. Poured it down the drain.

Northside inn East Rochester, NY. Italian food

I had heard many good things about this restaurant, but never had been to it. We went with a party of 16 people. We had great service, and the waitress was able to give each couple separate checks. This makes it so much easier to pay at the end. The food was great by all accounts. I had the veal marsala, and the veal was very good. Not quite fork tender, but very close. I heard of no one who had a bad meal. I would certainly go back again!

2010 cameron hughes lot 318 meritage

I had this wine with a grill cooked top round steak and it was very good! Mashed potatoes and sweet corn accompanied this, and all went well. I paid around $12 for this wine, and went to the web site and it is now $20. Excellent value for 12 bucks, not sure about 20. Maybe if this comes up on special, I would buy it again.

2009 Covey Run Gewurtztraminer

I had this wine with some spicy Chinese and for a $6 wine, this performed very well. Definitely a rebuy.

Chinatown Restaurant Elmridge Plaza Rochester ny.

I'm going to start off saying that maybe this is unfair based on it was new years eve, possibly one of the busiest days for a Chinese restaurant. So, to start off I ordered online, which was the first time for this particular restaurant. I immediately got a confirmation, and then two minutes later another confirmation, same as the first. After not hearing back after 45 minutes, I called to confirm my order had been received. It had, but they said it was going to be at least another 30-40 minutes. Well after another 45 minutes I decided to just go, figuring it had to be close. I stopped for gas on the way. The order was there, but as it turned out, I never did get a call or e-mail saying it was ready for pick-up. The food was somewhat of a disappointment. We had ordered a pu-pu platter for two, some soup and lo mien and a specialty dish, 8 hot and spicy ingredients, which I had requested to make extra spicy. The items in the pu-pu platter were mostly a disappointment. Shrimp fried toast was soaked with grease, the chicken wing was not crispy like usual, and a breaded shrimp was way over cooked. My 8 spicy ingredients was predominately celery, generally overcooked and a bit dry, and not all that spicy. The lo-mein was ok, as was the soup. So, in closing, I guess I would not order online again ( it was over two hours after the initial confirmation) and will most likely try some other places before going back there again. I have been to this place several times before, and for take out on new years eve also.
