Does the glass really make that much of a difference? 2010 dreaming tree cabernet sauvignon.

While having lunch downtown at Pane Vino, I asked for a glass of Cab Sauv. They brought out the 2010 dreaming tree cab sauvignon. This was by all accounts an excellent glass of wine. Good nose, mid palate and nice finish. After searching for awhile, I finally found it at a local liquor store. I would say the nose and mid palate were the same but it did not have quire the same finish...I have since tried the 2011 and am of the same opinion.... I wonder, if the glass made a big difference. I do not have expensive wine glasses. However, I guess I would be surprised if a restaurant did either. At $13 bottle, it is not that expensive, I just wish I could duplicate the finish...

Update: after receiving some nice Riedel wine glasses for xmas, I retried this wine, and it did not make a difference. I was just never able to recreate the experience from the Restaurant.

Taste of texas bbq spencerport ny.

I have to admit, after looking at the menu online, I was a bit worried about the upcoming visit. It seemed rather limited compared to some of the other BBQ joints we have in town. I ordered the turkey sandwich, with two sides , baked beans and mac and cheese. The turkey sandwich was three decent slices of smoked turkey breast, which were fine, but there was absolutely nothing on this sandwich besides the white bread. Seemed pretty cheap to me. The sides were quite different. The mac and cheese was fairly bland and tasteless. The baked beans were quite good. Top it off with unlimited soda refills and the tab for two was around $20. Not terrible, but I'm not going back....

2011 Forge riesling

So, this wasn't stupidly expensive for a Riesling, around $20, but it is more than what I would normally spend. This was a total bust for me, from start to finish. It did kind of open up a bit after a little air time, but when you have 5 people drinking it, 2nd glasses are not forthcoming. So, at the opening, I got nothing on the nose at all, the middle was fairly flat and I also didn't sense much of a  finish. I would say at the very end, I though the nose developed a bit of a grapefruit smell on the nose. A big pass for me.

Sullivans char-broil ridge road spencerport ny

Food was terrible, staff was very good. I got a sully burger,,way over cooked, with no flavor. Wife got a roast beef Sammy with curly fries. It looked like curly fries were drenched in oil..very soggy. Not going back to this one for sure.

Tabasco customer service

Just wanted to give a quick shout out to the folks at Tabasco. After recently buying a bottle, it fell and broke just the plastic cap off. I asked if it was possible to just send me a cap, and sure enough they did! In fact, they sent two! Great product, now great customer service. Thanks so much.

2004 tahuan cabernet sauvignon

So, this is a $17 cab from Argentina. Much more of a dark fruit than I anticipated. It didn't say it was unfiltered, but based on the amount of debris in the glass, I am going to assume it was. The label mentioned it was tannic, but I didn't really get that unless I took a sip and breathed air in while holding it in my mouth.I'm going to venturi the next glass and see what happens. No difference after the venturi. I'm gonna have to say a pass on this one. For $17 bucks, I will try something else.

2009 grao vasco dao

OK, let's start by saying this was a $5 wine. It actually had a decent nose and mouth feel. Not much of a finish, but then again, I've had many more expensive wines that had the same effect. I don't know if I would buy this again...but it was a pretty good wine overall.

2010 tormaresca neprica

So, this is a red blend from italy containing negroamaro, primitivo, and cab sauv. Not a bad wine. Good nose and mid-palette, with a decent finish, especially for the price point. I would buy again.

2010 oxford landing cabernet sauvignon

Well, I must say this may be one of the better $7 wines I have had in a while. A bit of a cherry nose, with some cherry and a bit of spice on the mid-palette, and a decent finish of a more subtle red fruit. I'm thinking re buy for sure!

2008 zugibe 4 reds fred.

This wine was very disappointing given my preference for them from some time ago. It just didnt have much of anything going on. They were one of the few finger lakes wineries (at the time)  that I thought were doing a good job of making red wine. Now, I think that may have been a mistake. But, before I totally write them off, I am going to try their pinot noir.

2011 pacific rim dry riesling

Citrusy nose, that follows thru on the mid-pallette and the finish. I would buy again...

Book review, "along the way"

This was a story of father and son, Martin Sheen, and Emelio Estevez. They wrote every other chapter and it worked well. Often covering the same story, from different points of view. As a father, I was impressed as how much it made me think of how I had been a father, and how I had effected my own sons lives. I may wait a few months and re-read.I highly recommend this.

2010 Smoking Loon cab sauv.

I was a little leerie on this one as I had recently tried the same brands pinot noir, and it was not that good. However, this was much better on all fronts. It had a nice nose, mid-pallete and even s decent finish. I would certainly rebuy this wine, especially in the $7 range.
